Values & Principles

Truth - Justice - Compassion

This framework of values acts as Long Covid Advocacy's guiding light. Our three core values give us purpose and direction. Each underpins three principles that shape our actions.

Truth

  • Upholding Scientific Integrity
We will raise awareness of infection-associated chronic illness in ways that prioritise rigorous scientific research with a firm biological basis.

  • Practicing Intellectual Rigour
We will operate with intellectual honesty and transparency. This includes respecting intellectual property and accurate referencing. Credit given where credit is due.

  • Advocate Without Fear or Favour
We will say what we believe is right and necessary even when it's inconvenient or unwelcome.

Justice

  • Fearlessly Seeking Answers
We aim to go off the map, ‘hic sunt dracones’ and our priority will always be with the patient & systemic injustice

  • Ecological Priority
In our operations & trading, we commit to taking the path that aligns with the highest ecological standards. We do not operate in isolation and our principles stand with safeguarding the planet to the utmost of our ability.

  • Respecting Diversity & Equality
We come into relationship with a diversity of individuals & communities. We therefore commit to a value of equality amongst diversity, be it gender, sexuality, neurodiversity, class, ethnicity, wealth, health, religion, etc.

Compassion

  • Building Positive Relationships
We commit to compassionate & honest communication with others. We hold that compassion means being committed to truth and principle, and this can mean respectful disagreement.

  • Safeguarding Health
We understand that when we enter into relationship with those with an energy limiting illness (including ourselves) their health, wellbeing & staying in their energy envelope takes priority.

  • Prioritising the Community
We commit to the needs of the patient community first & foremost because we are not separate from them. We will prioritise their needs & situation above any agenda of an authoritative body.
